Julie Christina

Featuring Julie Christina Ley, whom I knew for the first time. I knew her through James Lo, who be the "tour guide" of Sekama for that Saturday morning. The theme is pretty simple and straightforward, with the portrait subject merging with the surroundings. Sekama is one of the remaining old streets in Kuching, besides Padungan, Ang Cheng Ho, Kenyalang Park and Carpenter street. Despite it was first shoot for Julie, she performed naturally and smiled all the way. Thanks to her time and effort for being our portrait subject of the day.

Closer To Jun

This was the second attempt, thankfully we did it successfully. The story goes back to 2 weeks ago when I proposed Jun to be my "rising" model. The first attempt failed due to a rainy and gloomy morning, so we had to called it off on the phone.

Last Saturday, the breaking dawn turned out fantastically good and the lighting produced a wonderful result on that day's portrait session. Jun looked simply lovely in this very simple Stars and Stripes top, bottomed with a hot pants and a pair of polka dots shoes. I must really thank her double time for willing to wake up real early in the morning and stay energetic throughout the shoots. Another appreciation goes to Robin the boyfriend for accompanying her and, holding the reflector, haha.

And yes, never doubt this phrase; "Early bird gets the worms".

Faraway (With Mary)

Last Friday, on the 31st of August 2012, and it was public holiday in Malaysia. We went to a faraway place to have the photography session conducted.

Featuring Mary on a moody evening, who has been months away since the last portrait session during Chinese New Year. She's donning her newly dyed hair, a Union Jack Top with hot pants bottom, and a pair of sweet sneakers. Theme is sort of escaping and away, doing my best to keep everything simple and clean. Got to thanks her get on board and suffering from some mosquito / insects bite.

Come Away With Me (Feat. Phei Sze)

Saturday morning, with Phei Sze. She's currently graduated with a Diploma In Graphic Design, and soon she'll be having her Degree course at the UK. While she's having a short holiday, I invited her for an outdoor portrait session at various places that I feel fit.

Appreciate her willingness to pose under the hot weather, and simply love her "sad face". Even she herself said that while browsing through the camera LCD panel.

Wishing you all the best in your studies, and do enjoy yourself over there. Happy viewing!!!

An Evening With Esther

A lovely girl with a pretty smile lightens up the moody evening at a local park. This session was taken after An Afternoon With Esther before we called it a day.

Initially I was trying to use available light only for this session but only found it too dull for the ambient, so I decided to do it the strobist way (off camera flash) to brighten up the pictures. Special thanks to Aderine for holding the 580 EXII.

The Journalist

According to the title stated, this post is about Yuan, who is a real-life journalist at one of the local Chinese daily newspaper. However, since this is a lifestyle portraiture, so I told Yuan to style-up a little more classic and vintage looking. Her appearance was enhanced furthermore by adding on an old SLR, 1982's Nikon FG which was borrowed from Mr. Kueh K.S.

Even though Yuan is not a photojournalist, she looked and acted just like one throughout the session. The content of this album is basically based on what she does on her daily routine. Well, I must really thank her for participating in this "journalism" assignment.

Yee 32°C

It's Saturday, weather was sunny, and yes, it was hot. Featuring Wan Yee from Pretty Good Morning, where she had her first official personal portrait shoot. The theme for this album is "a little lost", where Wan Yee was losing her directions in a hot and sunny day, without knowing where she's heading to.

Shooting locations were at Sejingkat area, on the other side of Kuching City. Thanks Wan Yee for her enthusiasm and effort without complaining about the hot conditions during the portrait session. Oh, another person to thank, which is Jun, for accompanying us and holding the reflector.

Pretty Good Morning

It's Saturday morning, I was expecting one girl to be my portraiture subject of the day. Then I received call from Jun, and she told me that she and her sisters had arrived at the venue, so in the end I got myself 3 "subjects" for the morning shoot. I said to myself; why not? The more the merrier, isn't it =)

It's a pretty straightforward photo session, with a Japanese Garden as the backdrop. Weather is sunny and cheerful, thus came up with this little bit mixture of Japanese and Taiwanese photography style.

Featuring in this post are Yee, Jun and Yuan. I bet you can see their resemblance.

Chap Goh Mei, Night

The first and the last day of Chinese New year are the most important days of the festival. Since I have created  The Cheongsam Sisters  from the previous post, so this one is going to conclude my Chinese New Year themed photography assignment.

Taken during the night where the lights were turned on to cheer up Chap Goh Mei festival, at Siniawan old town, Bau district.

The Cheongsam Sisters

I had this wonderful photography assignment executed right before this year's Lunar New Year, thanks to these two lovely models in Chinese traditional costumes. The shooting location is at a Chinese Temple at Beliong, Samarahan. We drove all the way from city to this location, as I wanted to capture a more unique environment and applied them into my photographs.

If you've seen my posts earlier, you might spot a familiar face, that's Esther, the one in blue Cheongsam. The other girl is her elder sister, Aderine. Just to let you know, the Cheongsam that they were wearing belong to their mother, and yes, their mother is still in a slim figure.

Hope you enjoy viewing the photos below. Happy viewing!!!

Dereliction

Once again, this is an old work of mine at yet another deserted premises. This was taken at a demolished old prison which was built in year 1882.

Last Christmas

Last Christmas, 2011, with Esther for the second time. Appreciate her willingness for being my version of "Santarina". Basically we  did the sessions at local malls. As it was raining heavily on that particular day, we only stay indoor and used the existing decorations as backdrop.

Till next Christmas. Happy viewing!!!
