Ivanna - The Urban Ballerina

Had a cool ballet shoot last Sunday with another new face. Featuring Ivanna Ting, a recent graduate who has been practicing ballet before that. It was a rainy and cool Sunday morning, and I had her placed at Padang Merdeka area as the background while Ivanna was doing her ballet moves mixed with a little bit of contemporary element. Despite the unconditional weather, Ivanna didn't even complain about it and continue to do her best.

I would like to thank Ivanna for her time and effort, another appreciation goes to her boyfriend who was helping with the stuff and umbrellas, and Jayne Ting (her sister) for assisting with lighting in certain shots.

I hope you like the pictures. Happy viewing!!!

Ottilia la Ballerina

Second album on ballet and ballerina, featuring Ottilia who also starts learning ballet since she was six years old. Many thanks to Ottilia for spending her precious morning for this outdoor / indoor session, she showed much determination during that time as she did her moves up to perfection. The other appreciation goes to Hilda, her sister, an ex-ballerina for assisting on the lighting and monitoring the ballet moves all the way. The more I got involved in ballet portrait photography, the more I love it, and I can't wait to produce more portrait projects like this.

Happy viewing!!!

Kimie La Ballerine

A classical dance swaying into the modern day environment. Featuring Kimie, a professional ballerina who started dancing while she was only 4 years old. She's been doing ballet for 14 years, ain't it amazing?

Everything has its beginning, and this is the first time I photographed a real life ballerina. I've been seeing a few website which presenting beautiful pictures of ballerinas across the world and it truly inspires me to get started in ballet photography. This style of photography is more like a mixture of environmental portrait and standard portraiture photography. In order to make the photos more "gracefully" looking, the pictures must be taken in a more artistic way.

A big thanks to Kimie for volunteering to have her beautiful moves and poses to be documented through my perspective. This session truly opened my eyes to ballet, and I am looking forward to photographing something like this in near future.

So these are what I have taken last Monday, on April 30th 2012. I hope you all love this ballet assignment. Happy viewing!!!
