Star Cineplex Kuching - The Final Show

When I heard that Star Cineplex Kuching, a local cinema that has been running for 19 years, is closing their business by end of April 2016, my mind immediately rush me back down to a memory lane where I used to watch tonnes of movies at this cineplex with friends and families, and I think to myself; I need to conduct a photoshoot here for preserving the memories.

First of all, I would like to thank Hock Star Entertainment Sdn Bhd and also the person in charge, Mr Wong for allowing me to move around the premise and photograph some memorable shots for this once beloved cineplex. Besides that, also appreciate the Lo's sisters for their time to be the subject matter in this movie-themed shoot.

So this photography session is a tribute to all the moviegoers who had their best movie moments here, and the management who provided all the wonderful movies for all of us Kuchingites before the giant cinemas from West Malaysia taking over the movie business in Kuching.

We'll miss you.

Natasha's Graduation 23.03.2016 豊橋技術科学大学卒業式

March 2016 was a wonderful month, besides travelling to Japan for the first time, I also had the chance to document my little sister's graduation day.

For their university's graduation day, students of Diploma or Degree may choose to wear executive suit or Kimono (females only). So I woke up early to follow Natasha to the studio where she'll put on her Kimono, then headed to the multipurpose hall where the ceremony is being held.

After the ceremony, we utilized some extra time for a quick personal portrait shoot, in a "Japanese" way.

Partial Solar Eclipse 9/3/2016

Although weather was gloomy over here, I'm lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the partial eclipse, and managed to take just one shot, moments later the cloud just covered up everything

Solo Concerto

2016 first shoot, this series features a girl who has a musical background, her name is Phebe. She's a pianist as well as a violinist. We can't bring along a huge piano so a violin is enough to add interest to this portraiture.

We had this session at an abandoned house, with amazing atmosphere and fantastic background to sums up everything. This time I've also incorporated off camera flash all the way, not my normal shooting style (I normally do natural lighting / available light + reflector)

Anyway I'm very satisfied with the outcome, with dramatic contrast and slightly "dark' feel. Hope you like this series =)
