Come Away With Me (Feat. Phei Sze)

Saturday morning, with Phei Sze. She's currently graduated with a Diploma In Graphic Design, and soon she'll be having her Degree course at the UK. While she's having a short holiday, I invited her for an outdoor portrait session at various places that I feel fit.

Appreciate her willingness to pose under the hot weather, and simply love her "sad face". Even she herself said that while browsing through the camera LCD panel.

Wishing you all the best in your studies, and do enjoy yourself over there. Happy viewing!!!

At Kuching Festival 2012

Last Friday at the Kuching Festival. It's an annual event happening around July-August at the Kuching Municipal Council Hall. The event is also known as Kuching Food Festival where major local restaurants, cafe and eateries will sell their products through the at designated temporary stalls. The festival always attract large crowd from 6 pm onward and it is very difficult to look for any available seats.

This is not a full coverage on the event itself, I was there to have some simple dinner with my wife and strolled around the premise.

Here are some snapshots from the fest, just feel like sharing with you all. Happy viewing!!!

An Evening With Esther

A lovely girl with a pretty smile lightens up the moody evening at a local park. This session was taken after An Afternoon With Esther before we called it a day.

Initially I was trying to use available light only for this session but only found it too dull for the ambient, so I decided to do it the strobist way (off camera flash) to brighten up the pictures. Special thanks to Aderine for holding the 580 EXII.

Nutella

Nutella, I don't think I need to elaborate more on this product. My first impressions of Nutella is through the photos people post on Instagram. Just to let you know, I purchased my very first Nutella at one of the mini market at Katakolo, Greece.

Having fun with commercial style still photography at this post. Oh yes, strawberries and Nutella make perfect couple.

An Afternoon With Esther

Esther, she's back.

Ever since I "withdrew" myself from the social network months ago, I didn't really has the chance to get in touch with her and her sister, Aderine from The Cheongsam Sisters. Then out of the blue in May 2012, we contacted each other once again.

This series was taken approximately two weeks ago, on the first week of July, at some shop lots behind a plaza. Also this time I'm introducing a new color style in my portrait works, hope you guys will like it as well.

It was great to have Esther returns as my portrait subject. Happy viewing!!!

Venezia / Venice

Carrying two cameras at the same time might be troublesome, but it sure has its benefits. This post is the only one that I separated the photos instead of mixing them up, just to show a little more "intimate" side of capturing details. So please enjoy the views where we spent 3 hours plus in the heart of Venice.

A Gondola Ride, Venice

For centuries gondola were the main transportation and watercraft within Venice, which is the famous city surrounded by water. Nowadays, gondolas main role is to serve as water taxi and act as an attraction for Venice tourism industry. I always imagined myself seating in a gondola whenever I saw the gondola image from pictures or from the movies, and now I finally had a ride in it with my loved ones and my fellow friends.

How does it feel then? Well, satisfaction.

I hope you can enjoy the gondola ride "virtually" through my photos. Happy viewing!!!

It's kind of shaky, but no worries

Venice, Italy

Well, I was feeling really grateful to be here, Venice, as it is one of my listed dream destinations. Even though we only have less than five hour to tour Venice, but I think it should be enough to fulfill my achievement. Just to let you know, this isn't the complete set of Venice, two more posts coming up soon. Please kindly stay tuned.

Greek Trip 02/06/2012: Approaching Venice, Italy

Our final tour destination, the ever romantic Venice. We were able to wake up earlier to catch a final glimpse of the Venice waterfront from deck 12 of the cruise. Weather however was a little gloomy but I don't think it was a bad thing too, as we get to tour Venice in a more "emotional" way. The complete stories of Venice will be concluded in the next three upcoming posts.

Greek Trip 31/05/12: Greek Lunch

Lunch hour at Katakolo Town, where me and Ester came across with this "homey" Greek Restaurant. Surprisingly there's only 3 person working under the roof, the owner as the chef, the owner's wife taking orders and serving food, alongside with another waitress. So we wait for quite a while for our food, but it was really worth it. Check out the rest of the photos.

Katakolo Town, Olympia

Katakolo is a seaside town located in western Ilia in the municipality of Pyrgos. The town itself is relatively new judging by its new buildings built along the port where most of them are restaurants and goods shop, and locals basic income rely mostly on tourism. Nevertheless it was a cheerful town and the people are nice and friendly too.

Greek Trip 31/05/12: Olympia Archaeological Site

The site of Olympia, located in a valley of Peloponnesus. This is the birthplace of Olympic Games that is being held every four year since 776 B.C. Olympia became a centre for the worship of Zeus in the 10th century B.C., and it has one of the highest concentrations of masterpieces from the ancient Greek world. Whatever we see today are the remains of all the sports structures erected for the Olympic Games.

I know some might see only "rocks" and "stones" in this post but hey, we were at the birthplace of Olympic which were around centuries ago, so it wasn't that bad after all.

Dining At Grand Pacific, Norwegian Jade

This was in the evening after we left Mykonos. Instead of having dinner at the usual buffet restaurant, we indulged ourselves at one of the themed restaurant in the cruise, Grand Pacific.

Greek Trip 30/05/12: Mykonos Graphics

Mykonos is such a unique place, from its buildings down to little details like a door knob. It is a place that has its very own style that is very appealing to the eyes, mind and soul. As a photographer / graphic designer, I present you the graphics of Mykonos.

Madoupas Cafe-Restaurant, Mykonos

Mykonos is an expensive place, due to its tourist attractions. So when it comes to food and beverages, we were very careful not to spend on the overrated restaurants. After we surveyed a few, we finally decided to stop at this cafe called Madoupas Cafe-Restaurant which was located in the middle of Little Venice and not far from the port. The main reason we had our lunch here is because they displayed their menu with pricings out front, and the atmosphere of the cafe looks welcoming too. Here we had ourselves some Moussaka, pork steak and some brava coffee.

Windmills Of Kato Mill, Mykonos

The 5 remaining windmills are the structures that defined Mykonos famous landmark. They just look perfectly great in a row of five be it during day time against the blue sky, or even more tremendous in the sunset. However we don't have the opportunity to stay up to dusk hour so here in this post I can only present you the windmills in daylight scenery.

Actually there were six of them, the one on the far left is already damaged

Little Venice, Mykonos

It's called Venice with a "Little" in front, only at Mykonos. The waterfront is surrounded by whitish buildings that were built during the 16th and 17th century and constructed right on the sea"s edge with their balconies overhanging the water that defined the first impression of Mykonos.

We returned to Little Venice after we visited Ano Mera, where we have plenty of time before heading back to our cruise. Since we had few hours left, we make good use of the time to walk around Little Venice, shopped around for souvenirs, admiring the scenery at the Windmills of Mykonos, and had some great Greek food, which I shall post later on.

Ano Mera is a village that sits on the highest land at Mykonos Island. There is an oldest monastery that was built in year 1524 and reformed in 1767. The interior of the monastery is decorated with detail mural, carved wood and silverware.

After the visit, we were treated with another luncheon of Greek food at a restaurant next door.
